Heavy Duty Construction
The HDW-3217-18 is specially designed for operate effectively under those difficult conditions found in the construction industry. No matter what the task, land clearing, road building, reclamation projects, wet and dry soil blending, this disc harrow is built to take on any condition. Manufactured with the highest quality discs in the world.
The front single lip Category 4 hitch requires the tractor to have a hammer strap drawbar. This will enable operators to attach a safety tow chain from the drawbar, securely to the disc harrow. The front pole hitch can even be rotated back parallel to the Gang Frame for reduced shipping footprint on rear gooseneck trailers.
The main frame is made from large high strength steel 9-7/16″ x 5-1/2″ x 1/2″ steel tubing.
The gang tube is constructed from 5″ x 6-1/4″ x 1/2″ steel tubing.
Oil Bath Bearings:
Heavy duty gang beams feature welded gang standards specifically designed with Oil Bath gang bearings for long service life and less downtime in extreme conditions. The larger tapered roller bearings and duo-core type seals are enclosed within a rugged ductile cast iron housing assembly to withstand extreme conditions. A heavy-duty steel rock guard plate protects the housing assembly. Competitive models with greaseable bearings are more susceptible to seal damage and shorter service life due to over greasing.
Made from ductile cast, the spools offer superior durability against rocks. The ductile castings have thicker sidewalls than any fabricated spools on the market. Many competitors add weight exclusively to the main frame in order to increase mass for better blade penetration. Conversely, our ductile cast spools provide the additional weight where it is needed most – centered right over the bearings. This dramatically reduces bearing side loads when operating on uneven ground as compared to competitive models that put the weight above the gang. The HDW-3217-18 ductile cast spools are machined on both ends to provide the perfect fit to the disc blade. This provides the greatest clamping force between all surfaces.
